As of December 29th...
We are just over a week away from the start of Wee Ski 2022 for middle school and high school!
To continue to maximize the amount of time on the mountain for our skiers and snowboarders, we will again be leaving straight from the Middle School every Friday night.
With that said, please CONTINUE TO drop off your child’s ski equipment at the TOWN PARK parking lot (by the basketball courts) between the hours of 7:00am and 8:00am or 1:30pm and 2:30pm. Please keep in mind that once loaded, we will not be taking anything off of it until we reach Catamount. We have a ski lodge just for Lewisboro, so participants may change into their ski attire after our arrival.
There will be three buses going to Catamount each Friday night; two are designated for the middle school program and one for the high school program. All buses, middle school and high school, will leave JJMS at approximately 3:00 p.m. and return back to the High School at 11:00 p.m.
All Middle School participants should report to the middle school cafeteria after school dismissal to sign in for the program.
All High School participants should report to the high school cafeteria after school dismissal to sign in for the program.
Once at Catamount, all participants will be on the mountain from 5:00 p.m. to approximately 8:45 p.m. The middle school students will start their lessons at 6:00 p.m. These lessons are given by the mountain staff and all lesson groups are organized by Catamount's Ski Director. He assigns participants by their skiing or boarding ability, and he will not accommodate friend requests.
Middle school bus assignments are listed on the attachment below. Please make sure to take note whether your children are on Bus 1 or Bus 2: All high school students are on bus 3.
Before the first night, please PRACTICE WITH YOUR CHILD on how to put on all of their ski and snowboard equipment - especially boots!! We do have staff to assist, but not enough to get everyone out on the mountain expeditiously. All participants MUST have helmets and we highly encourage snowboarders to wear their wrist guards. Please remember to label your child’s equipment with their name and bus number (bus rosters forthcoming). Many children rent from the same ski shop and equipment could get mixed up. Please place a label on all clothing, boots, boards, poles, helmets or any other equipment. Please use thick rubber bands or some kind of strap to keep the ski poles together. In addition, upon our return to JJHS, please double check that you are taking the correct equipment home.
As guidelines continue to change regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, the rule for now will be that masks will be required on the bus, and in the lodge, unless consuming food or drink.
