“A’ Meets: These are competitive, dual meets against other teams in our division. The coaches will prepare a line-up of swimmers a day or more in advance of the meet, based on swimmers’ times in each stroke, and send the line-up out via email. A team member may compete in a maximum of three individual events (including diving) and one relay event in any one meet. These meets help determine our division status. Warm-up for weekday dual meets begins at 4:30pm for divers and 5 pm for swimmers, with the meet beginning at 5:30 pm. For Saturday meets the warm-up for divers begins at 8 am; 8:30 am for swimmers and the meet start is 9 am.
“B “Meets: These meets are against multiple teams within our division, and are for any swimmer who has not placed 1st or 2nd in an A meet. All eligible swimmers are encouraged to participate in these meets as they give novice and intermediate swimmers an opportunity to improve proficiency in a less competitive environment. Although scores are not kept, ribbons are awarded. There are no relays and no 18 and under events, and swimmers may participate in any number of events. Warm-up for "B" meets begins at 4:30pm, with the meet beginning at 5:00pm.
Invitational: These are fun meets against other teams where ribbons, medals and trophies are awarded. The host team determines the events, which have included interesting races in the past!
Advance Notice Required - If your child cannot make an A Meet or Invitational.
The coaches make lineups for these meets and try very hard to post them in advance, so it is important for Meg to have at least 48 hours advance notice if the kids can't make those - and for those you can email her at camelot93@optonline.net. If you do not provide at least 48 hours notice prior to the meet and your child does not show, he/she will NOT swim/dive in the next A Meet (unless the absence is due to illness the day of the meet). B Meets are show up and swim but check in with assigned head coach for the day - NO notice required.
Meet Guidelines
All swimmers/divers entered into the line-up for an A Meet are expected to attend. If a team member cannot attend, please be courteous and notify the coaches ASAP. Failure to fill an event slot can cost the team points in the meet, and results in last minute rearrangements to the line-ups.
Please arrive at the beginning of warm-ups.
Listen for your events and be ready to go. Parents of younger members can help by knowing where their children are during the meet.
Please don’t leave a meet early unless you are sure you are not in a relay.
