Dear Neighbors and Friends of Lewisboro -
We hope that this email finds you well, safe and staying strong. This past week has been tough on all of us, so we are happy to greet you with what we think is some good, positive news . . .
We have been hopeful for this to happen, and in the past forty-eight hours, news came out that we will be able to hold some sort of Day Camp program this summer as well as open the Town Pool for 2020. Unfortunately, these announcements were made without any guidance or requirements. So, until we know what the guidelines will be for both entities, we are still waiting before advertising an opening day and registration for each.
We will remind you that, at the end of the day, it will be a Town Board decision as to whether it is safe to proceed in opening the camp and/or pool for the summer. We need it to be safe for both our participants and staff. And, if it is a financially responsible decision at this time. The next Town Board meeting is on Monday, June 8th and we hope to have some direction at that time from the state government and health department to present to our town leaders.
Our Preserves are all open at 50% parking capacity, and 3 out of our 4 parks (Town Park remains closed but will open soon with LIMITED PARKING AND ACCESS) are open for the usage except for gatherings over 10 people, sports on the fields and/or playground usage. Please remember there are no garbage receptacles out so carry in and carry out in all facilities, bathrooms are still all closed and not court sports, field sports or playground usage at this time.
Our whole staff will be back in our offices starting on Monday, but will remain closed to the public for the time being. We will continue to offer appointments and/or safe social distancing curbside service when needed.
We do have other programs up and running - Zoom Bingo, Private and Semi-Private Tennis Lessons for kids (sold out at the moment but we hope to offer more soon), Drive in Movie night at Onatru, and the state is now allowing doubles tennis to be played. We are looking forward to some safe alternative activities for the community coming up in lieu of the annual fireworks - so stay tuned for information.
For more information on any of these programs, please visit our website at www.lewisbororecreation.com or call our office at (914) 232-6162 during normal business hours.
We continue to miss you and hope to see you soon,
Your Dedicated Lewisboro Parks and Recreation Department Team:
