John Jay Travel Youth Basketball Program is a competitive basketball program sponsored by Lewisboro Parks & Rec. We are dedicated to providing a positive atmosphere for athletes to develop their skills individually, as well as learning team basketball concepts.

 

All teams will be formed through tryouts. Teams will play in the Tri-County Basketball League (TCBL). TCBL games are played in school gyms around the area. 

 

The TCBL is a competitive league and provides the opportunity to challenge our athletes against quality programs from neighboring towns. Rosters will be tight to allow coaches the opportunity to manage playing time to field a competitive team. Playing time will be "fair, but not equal" with the goal being to put every player in a competitively appropriate situation which affords the team the best chance to win. 

 

Howlers players are also required to participate in the Lewisboro Recreation Basketball program. Participation is not just registering, but attending all practices and games. Recreation basketball is a 2 hour per week commitment, at most. The Recreation league is based on skill development and team building to offer all levels of players the opportunity to play equally in a fun environment. Travel players are required to participate in order to further their development working on skills, sharing the basketball, and helping all the players in our programs improve.

SEASON DETAILS:

WHEN: Practices will begin in mid-October

Games played November through March

PRACTICES: Teams will have 1-2 practices per week. Teams will work out a schedule to minimize conflicts to the best of our ability.

GAMES: 12-14 game season plus playoffs. Games could be on weekdays and weekends.

PRICE: $625 per player includes coaches fee, town registration, referee fees, and league entry. Uniform fee will be charged separately and will be approximately $50. There is no fee for tryouts.
